On Friday, October 7, GSPIA alumni returned to their Oakland alma mater to reminisce, share their achievements, and connect with fellow graduates, students, faculty and staff.
During the day, GSPIA held its bi-annual meeting with the Board of Visitors, alumni who bring their expertise and insight to GSPIA’s strategic planning process. Their discussions included the School’s philanthropic goals, engagement, external relations, communications initiatives, and updates from the Dean.
The height of GSPIA’s festivities occurred Friday evening, when alumni, students, faculty, and staff enjoyed food, jazz, and conversation at GSPIA’s Homecoming Reception at Café Carnegie, just inside the Carnegie Museum of Art.
Celebrating her 2-year anniversary as the Dean of GSPIA, Dr. Carissa Slotterback greeted alumni and guests throughout the night, seeing new and familiar faces.
Attendees left with blue and gold cookies and a GSPIA-themed umbrella, just in time to watch the 9 p.m. fireworks and laser show light up the Cathedral of Learning on Bigelow Boulevard.
