Michaela Cushing-Daniels

PhD Student

Michaela Cushing-Daniels is a Ph.D. student and Teaching Assistant at Pitt’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs. She received her B.A. and M.A. in political science from Boston University in 2018. Her research interests broadly address features of American democracy and public policy, with a particular focus on policy interventions targeting reductions in mass incarceration and recidivism through the reintegration of criminal-justice-impacted individuals into socio-economic and political life. Other projects include co-authored work with GSPIA professors on the impacts of electoral reforms in U.S. cities and work on social movements as democratic mechanisms.
