Shape global policy and process.

Gain the versatile skills to participate in international affairs—whether that’s at the UN or in war-torn conflict zones. The MPIA degree is a multidisciplinary program designed to prepare you for a career as a policymaker, diplomat, intelligence official, global business leader, nonprofit manager, or policy researcher.

The program emphasizes the practical skills and knowledge necessary to participate in international policy processes and shape their future. The curriculum includes traditional courses on international economics and international relations theory, along with practical courses on intelligence collection and analysis, international security, diplomacy, and international finance, and professionalization.

Beginning in the Fall of 2025, students can complete their coursework in Public and International Affairs in as few as 36 credit hours. The curriculum offers a rigorous, yet efficient and cost-effective, program of study that MPIA students can complete in just three semesters.

For more information on each of the three MPIA concentrations, including a general plan of study, please visit their pages in the navigation. Students are encouraged to speak with their academic advisor to plan their individual course of study and discuss opportunities including studying a language, earning a university certificate, or designing their own specialization, as these may extend the time to degree beyond 18 months.
