The 18-credit certificate in Nonprofit Management offers students the opportunity to connect their area of interest or study with meaningful impact in the nonprofit sector. It equips students with the skills and knowledge needed to understand and contribute to the dynamic world of nonprofit organizations.
Students who pursue the certificate in Nonprofit Management will learn:
- The features and practices of nonprofits, including their management and sustainability
- Strategies employed by social entrepreneurs to form and fund nonprofits
- Core nonprofit management skills, including financial management, fundraising, volunteer management, and nonprofit marketing
- Skills in strategic advocacy and community engagement
Through service-learning projects and a capstone experience, students will engage with local nonprofit organizations relevant to their field of study and area of interest, gaining practical experience and making valuable connections. The Nonprofit Management Certificate offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience, expand their professional network, and enhance their career prospects in the nonprofit sector.
This program allows students to connect their passion for making a difference with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in the nonprofit world. Whether students aspire to work for established nonprofits, start their own organizations, or pursue careers in related fields, this certificate provides them with a solid foundation for success.

The following are the required courses for the certificate. Students are recommended to take the interdisciplinary capstone after completing the other required courses.
PIA 0202 -- Program Design and Evaluation
PIA 0501 -- Foundations of the Nonprofit Sector
PIA 0401 -- Resource Development: Grant Writing, Fundraising, and Social Entrepreneurship
PIA 1004 -- Nonprofit Management Capstone
Electives: 6 credits
Students will take two elective courses (6 credits) to complete the minor. This represents a selection of initial electives. Faculty will develop and offer additional electives over time. Students may also take, with approval, appropriate graduate-level courses within the school.

PIA 1102 -- City of White Supremacy: Race, Space & Policy in American Cities
PIA 0301 -- Ideas to Action: Influencing Public Policy
PIA 1001 -- Internship Seminar**
**The instructor must approve all internships and a permission number is required to enroll. PIA 1001 is an optional elective. Students who elect this course must complete the 3 credit course requirements within one (1) term.
