The following awards are granted to current students throughout the year; qualified students may apply according to each award’s deadline and eligibility requirements.
Sam and Carol Adcock Student Resource Award: Provides support for internships. Preference is given to students whose internships are located in the greater Washington, D.C., area.
Christine Altenburger Award: Provides support for outstanding students who exemplify the qualities of high ethical standards and an interest in public administration.
Carolyn Ban Fellowship: Provides support for second-year master's students from diverse backgrounds who display outstanding academic achievement and financial need. Essay Required. Applications are available the summer after first year at GSPIA.
Joseph I. and Maryann B. Coffey Award: Provides general support for students.
de Zafra Atwell Leadership Fellow Awards: Provides support for a variety of activities (such as internships and independent study projects) and other opportunities that promote the development of leadership skills among women.
Donald Goldstein Fellowship: Provides support for students in the MPIA degree program who have a GPA of 3.5 or better, and who give evidence, in a written essay, of community or volunteer involvement that indicates strong commitment to public service and leadership potential.
GSPIA Internship Resource Award: Provides support for internship expenses.
Lawrence Cabot Howard Doctoral Research Award: Provides support to doctoral students who have passed the comprehensive examination, who have had their dissertation proposals approved, and who exhibit high scholarly qualities and a commitment to a just society.
Ridgway Fellowship: Provides full or partial tuition and stipends for MPIA students majoring in security and intelligence studies.
Elizabeth Rossman Award: Provides support to students who are enrolled in internships. Preference is given to students whose internships are located in the greater Washington, D.C., area.
Alex Weilenmann Dissertation Research Award: Provides support for dissertation research by PhD candidates.
Student Employment: Research, clerical, and administrative positions involving 10 to 20 hours of work per week. The pay rate ranges from $9.00 to $10.00 per hour.
